Becoming a class parent is a wonderful way to get involved in your child’s classroom and stay connected with their school experience. If you're interested in helping out and making a difference, class parents play a key role in organizing classroom activities, coordinating parent involvement, and making sure the year runs smoothly for the students and teachers.
What Does a Class Parent Do?
Class parents aren’t the only ones expected to be involved in the classroom—your job is to help coordinate and encourage other parents to participate too! Whether it's organizing class parties, leading fun crafts, or supporting special events, the role is all about teamwork. Every family should have the opportunity to be part of the classroom experience, and as a class parent, you'll help make that happen.
Here’s a few things class parents typically do:
Help coordinate class parties and events.
Encourage other parents to get involved, ensuring everyone has a chance to contribute.
Organize sign-up sheets for parents who want to help with crafts or other activities. (For example, at curriculum night, a sign-up sheet will be available for parents to pick a month for a craft activity.)
Important Note About Communication
While class parents play a role in keeping parents informed, it’s important to keep all official school communication through the school’s established platforms (like ParentSquare). Group texts should only be used for out-of-school activities, as miscommunication of school-related information can sometimes happen through informal messaging.
How to Sign Up
If this sounds like a good fit for you, you can sign up to be a class parent on Curriculum Night, September 19. Each teacher will have a sign-up sheet available, and they’ll make their final class parent selection. Don’t worry if you’re new to this—it’s a team effort, and the school community is always here to support you!
We hope to see you at Curriculum Night, and we’re excited for another amazing school year with our wonderful parents and students!
